Materials & Scheduling Manager

 The Opportunity:

This position’s primary responsibilities are to manage finished goods inventory levels for all Plant produced items, manage shipping and receiving for the plant, manage raw and packaging inventory levels and minimize material write-offs. This includes managing direct customer shipments and dispatches to third party providers and maintaining accurate inventory. This position is responsible for the direction, performance management and development of the shipping and receiving teams and inventory control at McLeod.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels in the distribution network to satisfy customer orders
  • Prepare the rough cut production plan (7 days to 13 weeks) and determine any capacity issues or potential service issues out months
  • Analyze and recommend inventory build options, and safety stock levels
  • Resolve projected stock out situations and excess inventory positions
  • Monitor product availability versus out of code date (OCD) risk
  • Communicate the implementation for new or changes to Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to ensure consistent product quality and progressive food safety program
  • Management of inbound raw and packaging materials to meet production requirements including inventory accuracy, minimizing write-offs and new product introductions
  • Manage the performance of the shipping and receiving teams in Saskatoon
  • Develop a “High Performance” relationship with manufacturing/Co-pack facilities
  • Analysis in support of Supply Chain projects
  • Understand customer requirements and ensure the shipping and delivery processes meet these requirements
  • Responsible for Export documentation and process
  • Oversee accurate inventory levels for both finished goods and raw/pack inventory through the effective coordination and management of the inventory process
  • Ensure the timely and accurate materials to satisfy daily operations
  • Ensure customer expectations for service and delivery are met

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post Secondary education preferred or equivalent experience
  • Driven individual with proven results-oriented background
  • 2 years or more of Supply Chain or Manufacturing functional experience with managerial/supervisory experience
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to handle deadlines with ease
  • Detail oriented and provides fact-based information
  • Strong organization skills with sound prioritizing abilities

  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, AS400 systems
