Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Responsible for leading hourly hiring activities – recruitment, interviewing, orientation
- Coordination and administration of leaves, layoffs and terminations
- Manage hourly attendance program
- Ensure all hourly MSS transactions are accurate and completed
- Administration of benefits and pension enrolment - assist employees with forms as well as answering inquiries and resolving any issues or concerns
- Actively facilitates and contributes to plant initiatives
- Run weekly and monthly reports and metrics, ie., turnover %, attendance, HR Metrics, Grievances, etc.
- Aid in identifying training and development opportunities and optimal delivery methods
- Work with various corporate departments including payroll, compensation and benefits, and HR services team to ensure needs of our employees are met
- Assist and provide coverage for payroll completion activities and inquiries
- Ensure people movement (new hires, voluntary and involuntary terminations, promotions, transfers etc.) is flawlessly executed in SAP
- Partner with leaders to identify recruiting needs and play an active role in the selection process
- Prepare and deliver/facilitate various training or development programs
- Execute organizational development and change management initiatives
- Handles front line employee issues and participates in the grievance resolution process
- Work closely with the leadership team and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Actively facilitates and contributes to plant initiatives
- Actively engage and coach employees on Maple Leaf Values and their application
- Recognize, support and commit to our Food Safety Promise and Leadership Values
- Performs other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring:
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages/ tone of voice to the differing audiences and quickly build rapport
- Possess strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multitasking abilities
- Demonstrate a good balance of initiative to progress matters or escalate if required
- Be a collaborative team player and prepared to go above and beyond in the interests of our customers and stakeholders
- Be proactive and forward planning, with the ability to work autonomously
- Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
- Display exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to encourage creative thinking
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and results-driven environment while maintaining a calm and confident approach
- Basic finance skills to support the development of annual budgets, tracking, and monthly reporting
- Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience, ideally in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Supervisory experience is an asset
- Post-secondary degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management, business or related field
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and law
- Initiative, drive, demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills
- Results orientated, work as part of a functional team and be an exceptional fit with our Maple Leaf Leadership Values
- Creative out of the box thinker that is results driven
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, Word & Power Point)
