Sr. Manufacturing Specialist

Winnipeg - Lagimodiere Blvd., MB

 The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Specialist will lead multiple initiatives that support various continuous improvement pillar strategies.  The support, collaboration, and leadership of this individual on the floor will be key to drive results in this role.  This position ensures that the process activities carried out by production personnel on a daily basis are in line with established policies, standards, and best practices.  The Senior Manufacturing Specialist works cross functionally with different groups to review process performance and identify improvement opportunities.  This role is key to the day-to-day operation and continual improvement of production processes.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Evaluate current production activities and determine gaps from best practices
  • Benchmark key equipment operation and identify significant opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and improve standardized processes related to program and process management.
  • Provide project and technical support for operation teams
  • Investigate practical, cost-effective, and innovative plant improvement solutions
  • Utilize and incorporate Six Sigma and other project management tools, methodology and principles
  • Contribute to Kaizen activities and process improvement initiatives.
  • Resolve complex problems with limited guidance.
  • Liaise with other internal departments as required to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently while using departmental resources, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage project plans, operations, budgets and schedules (annual and multi-year) and prepares CERs (Capital Expenditure Requests)

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experience of at least 5 years.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment would be an asset.
  • Experience leading on-the-floor equipment improvement initiatives.
  • Proven track record of providing detailed daily from-the-floor deficiency reports for driving process improvements.
  • Team player with effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and planning abilities combined with practical business sense.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite).
  • Knowledge and experience within the Food Industry is critical.
