Tax Analyst

Mississauga - Financial Dr., ON

 The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Taxation, the Tax Analyst works closely with the Vice President, Taxation and other members of the Tax Group, financial reporting personnel of MLF, and the Finance team to assist in tax reporting and compliance for MLF and its Canadian and international subsidiaries.  In addition, the position will assist in all areas of tax accounting and with tax-related special projects as they arise

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Assist with preparation of Canadian corporate income tax returns, other tax filings and related working papers.
  • Assist with accounting for income taxes and quarterly tax provisions as required.
  • Prepare and coordinate all payment requests and tax remittances in a timely manner.
  • Prepare reconciliations of tax accounts.
  • Assist with Government corporate tax audits, including analytical support, collection of information, preparation of responses and dealing directly with auditors.
  • Liaise with financial reporting and other personnel to obtain and analyze information prepared by other departments for use by the Tax Department.
  • Assist with special projects as required.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of financial accounting experience with exposure to corporate income taxes preferably in a large public company or public accounting environment.
  • Accounting designation (CA/CPA, CGA, CMA) is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced MS office software proficiency (Strong MS Excel skills are a must).
  • Experience with SAP would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to interact with various levels within the organization and be resourceful when collecting information
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks at a given time, manage changing priorities and to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and pays close attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative, and possess a continuous improvement and growth mindset.
