Global Logistics Coordinator - Contract

Mississauga, ON

 The Opportunity:

The Global Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the operational execution of product movements from the point of supply to the delivery to the customer. This individual will interact directly with global planners and other supply chain partners (e.g. product suppliers, carriers) on a transactional basis to coordinate the movement of product as per the parameters defined in the contract of sale.  This individual acts as the key contact with the customers/ overseas offices, shipping lines, truckers and other logistics partners servicing the international markets.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of products in the most cost-effective manner
  • Process shipments through an order management system
  • Issue loading instructions to the carrier(s) and supplier(s)
  • Prepare and/or compile documentation required for the shipment and ownership transfer of product
  • Negotiate documents with banks for letter or credit payment term
  • Support the reduction of incremental storage, demurrage and freight costs related to any service issues
  • Invoice and forward documents to the customer as per the contract of sale
  • Monitor the shipments in transit and trouble-shoot for any logistical issues to ensure that customer service levels are not impacted
  • Ensure timely and accurate administration of documentation
  • Act as a liaison with the customer for all post sale communications
  • Maintain databases of logistics information.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in business or international logistics or equivalent combination of education and experience in the global logistics or operations field
  • Understanding the rules, practices, and processes of credit letters and applications
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and to work in an extremely fast- paced environment
  • Extremely well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to take initiative and independently prioritize own work
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to clearly deliver information in various formats
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationship efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to speak French, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office (Word, Excel); SAP experience is an asset
