Retail Customer Representative

The Opportunity:
Hybrid Role with Territory Sales Coverage and Customer Business Responsibilities. Task such as; new product presentation, focus on distribution, incremental display opportunities, cross merchandising, execute Marketing Initiatives, build strong customer relationships and execute all other tasks required to maintain and grow the territory. Along with supporting the Customer Business Team to ensuring key sales information, insights and recommendations are available on a timely basis to enhance customer business development efforts. 
 
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
  • Maximize territory coverage in the designated region
  • Establish strong productive customer relationships
  • Meet and exceed distribution targets
  • Execute Marketing Initiatives with strong planning
  • Lead Merchandising and cross promotion with other vendors and in-store departments
  • Work with the Sales team and Business teams to secure commitments from customers
  • Report Territory activities back to District Sales Manager in a timely manner
  • Exceed distribution targets and display targets
  • Understand the financial implications of decisions made in the field
  • Achieve personal goals as set out by District Sales Manager
  • Represent Maple Leaf Foods with the highest level of professionalism and integrity
  • Ensure flawless execution of order fulfillment, liaising with internal departments to ensure customer expectations are met / exceeded
  • Attend key customer meetings - business reviews, planning meetings, new product presentations, etc.- with Customer Business Development Managers
  • Complete analysis, gain key insights and make recommendations on key performance indicators/trends and future opportunities such as sales volume, trade spending, KAAP, advertising promotions, new product launches, pricing, credit note spending etc.
  • Assist in the development of customer presentations (i.e. product launches, customer business plan/reviews, promotions, merchandising, pricing, etc.)
  • In conjunction with other functions, coordinate, support or lead processes internally to allow Customer Managers increased external focus
  • Effectively communicate customer requirements across all internal functions
  • Ensure systems / processes are effectively managed and improved
  • Recognize and make recommendations on cost reduction opportunities
  • Assist customer team with information requests, key insights, recommendations and processes (support external processes / lead and support internal processes)
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer to provide value-added services to the customer team and customer(s)
  • Support internal business functions with information and insights
  • Improve internal process to support effectiveness, efficiency and external focus

What you will bring:
  • 1-2 years sales experience is an asset
  • Preferred post-secondary education and related experience
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use an iPad effectively
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong planning skills and time management skills
  • Priority management skills
  • Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Ability to make informed decisions independently
  • Drive to succeed and surpass target
