Sanitation Worker

The Opportunity:
Maple Leaf Foods is a leading Canadian food processing company committed to delivering quality food products to consumers around the world. 

We are currently hiring for a full-time Sanitation Worker position at our Canning plant, located at 2265 Drew Rd, Mississauga, ON L5S 1B1.*Sanitation shifts are overnight shifts


Starting wage: $18.80



Snapshot of a day-in-the-life:

(but are not limited to)
  • Adhere to cleaning procedures in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Health and Safety guidelines
  • Perform specialized cleaning procedures in accordance with master sanitation schedule
  • Collaborating as a team to meet tight deadlines, ensuring production floors operate on time
  • Working in close proximity to food grade and sanitation chemicals, high pressure hoses, among other sanitation instruments
  • Work at various levels and heights to reach all work areas, use of ladders
  • Be responsible for lock out, dismantling, cleaning, sanitizing and assembling of food processing equipment as required in accordance with master sanitation schedule and standard operating procedure
  • Following all safety procedures and Golden rules while working, not limited to lock out and tag out
  • Report equipment concerns to the supervisor or maintenance in a timely manner
  • participate as part of a team to carry out sanitation procedures and ensure cleanliness for all areas of production.
  • Assist with various tasks in the department assigned.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working with high pressure washing and sanitizing equipment.
  • PMH operator (trained if required)
  • Must adhere to all hygienic and food safety requirements in the plant.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Must work well within a team environment
  • Must be capable of frequent bending, reaching and stretching
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be comfortable with working at various heights
  • Must have a desire to understand the sanitation needs and requirements
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail


What you will bring:
  • Ideally at least 1 year manufacturing experience, preferably in food industry
  • Previous industrial/manufacturing/production experience in a fast-paced environment considered an asset.
 
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime including weekends
  • Knowledge of sanitation chemicals is preferred
  • Experience cleaning or sanitizing equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work in wet or humid conditions regularly
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, bend and lift up to 60 pounds
  • Experience with or ability to learn power industrial equipment
