Finance Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis

The Opportunity:

As the Manager of FP&A Transformation at Maple Leaf Foods (MLF), you will have a unique opportunity to apply both your FP&A expertise and transformation experience to help implement best-in-class FP&A capabilities at MLF. Your role will span across the entire transformation lifecycle, including current state assessment, future state design, enabling technology selection, and implementation of the aligned future state capabilities. With the variety of experiences offered by the FP&A Transformation program, upon successful completion of the initiative, you will be in an excellent position to transition into another role within MLF Finance and pursue a meaningful long-term career path within the Finance team or elsewhere with the MLF organization.

Some of the exciting things you will be responsible for:
 
  • Lead the Budgeting & Forecasting workstream of the FP&A Transformation program
  • Work with stakeholders from across the company to understand the current state of financial Budgeting & Forecasting at MLF and identify improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to the design of future state Budgeting & Forecasting capabilities aligned with leading practices
  • Participate in a full lifecycle of implementation of financial planning software – from business requirements gathering through deployment
  • Lead implementation of technology-agnostic improvement initiatives for Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Work directly with VP Finance, Business Performance Management to drive the FP&A Transformation program forward

What you will bring:

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about FP&A, can quickly learn to see “the big picture” of the MLF business and its ecosystem, and will recognize business value drivers and interdependencies behind financial line items. You are analytical, a problem solver, and a driver. Among your strengths are a continuous improvement mindset, bringing forward new ideas, and seeing current state challenges as an opportunity to transform and make an impact. Your approach is collaborative, and you see people as the most important asset of any company and treat them accordingly.

Required skills, knowledge, and attributes:
 
    • Post-secondary education in a finance or business-related program
    • 5+ years of progressive finance or consulting experience with focus on FP&A
    • Strong knowledge of FP&A leading practices and their practical applications
    • Experience with full life cycle of financial planning software implementation
    • Hands-on experience with one or multiple FP&A tools (e.g., SAP SAC, Tagetik, Adaptive Insights, etc.)
    • Project management experience
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Inclusive and collaborative approach
    • Mindset of innovation and continuous improvement
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
Desirable skills, knowledge, and attributes:
 
    • Experience in the CPG industry or non-CPG manufacturing environment
    • Professional accounting designation
    • Project management certification
    • Contextual knowledge of SAP S4 HANA and SAP BPC
