Marketing Associate

 The Opportunity:

Maple Leaf Foods is looking for a dynamic business & category marketing professional. The Marketing Associate will support the success and growth of their designated categories. The successful candidate will be a balance between a commercially driven business professional and a consumer-focused marketing leader with a track record of success delivering profitable growth.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Support annual business review and category planning cycle while identifying key issues and strategies.  Execute key marketing initiatives and plans that deliver on business objectives and align with overall category growth agenda.  
  • Support end-to-end commercialization of new product development, innovation, renovation and category recommendations driving share and growth, from concept generation through execution
  • Lead and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver category initiatives with accountability for performance metrics
  • Conduct monthly analysis on business performance leveraging Nielsen, internal data sources and consumer insights to identify a course of action to achieve targets
  • Support the development of customer presentations with category stories, competitive advantages and capabilities
  • Monitor competitor pricing, promotion and distribution activities and inform plans.
  • Collaborate with Finance & Revenue Management to deliver target profitability
  • Create trade communication materials and sales tools to support category activities

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor degree with at least one year of Marketing experience in a CPG organization.
  • Experience/Proven track record in product commercialization from concept through market execution.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to anticipate potential issues, keen attention to detail and superior organizational skills.      
  • Proactive, performance driven, and has a bias for action .
  • Able to work well under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • A strong team player with well-developed people, communication and collaboration skills.
  • An analytical and creative thinker with a passion for Marketing and an appetite to learn and grow.
  • Competency requirements:
    • Commercial Acumen – Basic understanding of key drivers of the P&L with ability to identify opportunities to move the business forward. 
    • Critical Thinking and Insights – Able to analyze and draw conclusions from internal & external data sources. 
    • Agility and Effectiveness – Able to stay focused on key business priorities in a dynamic business environment.
    • Sales Knowledge and Connectivity – Demonstrates understanding of customer strategies and recognizes relationship to marketing planning process & initiative execution.
    • Leadership and Influence – Able to work effectively with functional teams to achieve commercial objectives
