The Opportunity

The Sr. Financial Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for consolidating monthly forecasts and annual budgets from all Operating units into a common format for review by senior executives. The materials are used for presentations to the Senior Leadership Team as well as the Board of Directors. Additional responsibilities will include supporting CBT/Category finance with forecasting and budgeting. The successful candidate must have exceptional organizational, an unwavering attention to detail and a bias for action. In addition to strong technical skills, the role requires an individual with the interpersonal and communication skills to manage multiple stakeholders in a high paced, high performing environment. This is a high visibility role requiring strong working relationships with the finance leads of each operating unit and the VP for Business Finance. 

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do: 

Work with Finance Leads to consolidate Operating Unit P/(L)’s for monthly forecasts for actual to date, current period and balance of year
Review monthly consolidation for accuracy and completeness
Analyze forecast submissions from the operating unit for completeness and accuracy 
Manage 90-day forecast Process for Prepared Meats Retail finance.
Coordinate reviews for volume and margins with retail Finance and ensure all required adjustments are flowed through accurately to reflect objectives/targets.
Maintain forecasting models; update as required for changes in the business (e.g. acquisitions)

Key member of the Budget Coordination team to drive the annual budget cycle and the planning share group across all operating units
Review consolidated budget financial statements for accuracy and completeness
Coordinate reviews for volume and margins with retail Finance and ensure all required adjustments are flowed through accurately to reflect objectives/targets.
Maintain Budget financial models; update as required for changes in the business (e.g. acquisitions)

Prepare financial data for the quarterly Board operating reports
Prepare financial data for monthly management reports
Provide financial forecast data for Senior Management presentations as required
Develop appropriate financial models for Forecasting & Budget or commercial reporting to support Senior management analysis.

Expert knowledge of Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Macros
Evaluates and troubleshoots existing VBA/Macro enabled templates to enable new functionality and optimize execution
Experience in building and designing a data mining and data warehousing environment an asset

What you will bring:

  • 3 to 5 years of FP&A experience required
  • Must have excellent systems skills and be proficient Excel, including macros.
  • Experience in working with budgeting and forecasting models
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated personal leadership 
  • Must strongly demonstrate our Maple Leaf Leadership values
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Business required 
  • Accounting Designation is required
SAP and BPC experience an asset
