The Opportunity

Junior engineering role in the Corporate Engineering & Construction group, which executions large Capital Projects across Maple Leaf Foods, including new plants, facility expansions, new processing lines, and retrofits across Canada.  This role has excellent exposure to capital project management, food safety, and sanitary design.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  • Support Project Managers in developing projects for capital approval, including creation of process flow diagrams, CAD layouts, performing data analysis, and producing reports.
  • Support Project Managers in execution of approved capital projects, including planning installations, coordinating the work of contractors, maintaining project controls tools (schedule, budget, action tracker) and supporting commissioning of equipment.
  • Understand and follow project standards, protocols and health & safety policies.

What you will bring:

  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Driver’s license with your own reliable personal vehicle (mileage compensation for work related travel) 
  • Senior Engineering Student in an appropriate undergraduate program
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite of programs 
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to understand, interpret and generate plant/engineering drawings
  • Ability to work independently, take initiatives and ownership of given tasks 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate with equipment suppliers, tradesmen, site foremen, site superintendents, manufacturing plant maintenance and production personnel, MLF management.
