Training Specialist

 The Opportunity:

  • Conduct training needs analysis to identify knowledge and skill gaps. Collaborate to develop solutions to knowledge/skill gaps that consider learner persona, objectives, business constraints, and available resources
  • Assist in the implementation of standard work practices by collaborating with plant leaders to develop the plant’s operator training and assessment processes.
  • Work closely with external vendors in developing internal technical expertise for technical support of integrated systems. Build and maintain relationships with external training vendors, acting as the primary point of contact for training support needs
  • Create and review course assessments / evaluations, validations, and creative feedback improvement for continued success
  • Design and develop multimedia content for virtual learning, such as videos, animations, interactive presentations, and quizzes
  • Craft engaging training tools (manuals, posters, presentations, self-study guides, etc.) Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of training tools and delivery
  • Maintain the training matrix for the plant

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

Onboarding and Orientation:
  • Assist in the creation, coordination and delivery of onboarding and orientation programs for new hires, ensuring a smooth and effective transition into the organization
  • Develop and coordinate follow up touch-points at 14/30/60/90 day intervals
  Program Maintenance:
  • Lead reviews of courses in Learning Management System to ensure up to date
  • Maintain London Knowledge Base of technical material
  • Accountable for correct entry of data into Learning Management System, including Groups, Adding/Revising Courses
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts, including benchmarking and staying up-to-date with best practices in organizational training and development
  • Report on training mandate compliance

What You’ll Bring:

To be an ideal candidate, we are looking for you to have at least 2 year experience in plant operations, either in production or as a supporting function, or a learning & development (training) role working with hands-on people.  Having an adult learning certification (such as CTDP – Certified Training Development Professional) is preferred and related degrees or diplomas are desirable.  As the creation of documents and presentations is central to the role, as well as some data analysis, you should be proficient in MS Office tools (i.e. Word, PowerPoint and Excel).  If you have prior experience with Intertek Alchemy learning tools it would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in plant operations, learning and development, training, or any operations function.
  • CTDP (Certified Training Development Professional) designation preferred
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite of tools, i.e.) PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with Intertek Alchemy learning tools is an asset.
  • Experience in learning theory, program management, course design and content development a must
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with key cross-functional business stakeholders across all levels.
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, one or more of the operations functions.
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and ability to work independently and manage own schedule.
  • Ability to work independently and partner with operations leaders.
