4th Year Millwright Apprentice

We are looking for individuals who are interested in a Millwright Apprenticeship who are currently in their 4th year of the program. This opportunity will include in-class training through a recognized school and fulfilling responsibilities in the facility. 

The program will be based on Ontario Ministry Apprenticeship guidelines. Tuition Reimbursement will follow the Brantford Maple Leaf Foods tuition reimbursement guidelines, which include coverage of tuition and books. Apprentice guidelines include but are not limited to maintaining acceptable grades in each course as well as overall and re-payment of apprentice reimbursements in the event that conditions are not met.

  • Members of the Apprenticeship program will be required to be enrolled as apprentices with the Skilled Trades of Ontario
  • Must fulfill all admission requirements and remain in good standing with the school
  • Requirement to attend ALL in-class learning (put on unpaid leave while in-class)
  • After completing your required hours, you have 1 year to pass provincial exam
  • Satisfy all requirements to maintain acceptable work performance
  • Ensure a safe work environment and follow all Health and Safety as well as Food Safety requirements
  • Ensure maximum efficiency of equipment
  • Frequent communication with leadership
  • Ensure all Company Rules, Policies and SOP’s are being followed and adhered to
  • Other duties as needed may be assigned
  • Should an employee resign from the company voluntarily or leave the company involuntarily with cause, the employee is required to pay back 100% of the amount of the apprentice reimbursements, if the payment is received within one full year prior to the date they left the company.  This will be processed by withholding payment from final pay and or reimbursing the company directly.

  • Enrollment with the Skilled Trades of Ontario
  • Currently a 4th year apprentice
  • Prior experience in similar roles is an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • OSSD or Equivalent required

The company will pay an employee covered by this apprenticeship program in the following manner;
               Year 1 Level Apprentice – 0% to 25% of required hours – 60% of classification rate (CR)
               Year 2 Level Apprentice – 26% to 50% of required hours – 70% of CR
               Year 3 Level Apprentice – 51% to 75% of required hours – 80% of CR
               Year 4 Level Apprentice – 76% to 100% of required hours – 90% of CR
The shift and work area may change on a regular basis.
