The Opportunity:
Pricing is where strategy meets margin. We’re looking for a Price Strategy & Analytics Manager to be the internal thought leader on how we approach pricing — the subject matter expert who develops first-pass pricing strategy, builds the analytical foundation behind it, and partners with our Category RGM Managers to translate insights into actionable recommendations. You’ll work like an internal consultant to the RGM team: pressure-testing strategy with leadership for directional alignment, then equipping the category owners who take the final recommendations forward. The goal is sharper thinking, faster cycles, and stronger price realization across the portfolio.
Any MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by June 08. Applications received beyond that date are not guaranteed consideration.
Reason for vacancy: Incremental Headcount
Compensation: $96,000 - $141,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive
The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Develop First-Pass Pricing Strategy & Recommendations: Build data-driven first-pass pricing strategy for review with RGM leadership, balancing revenue, profit, and competitiveness. Partner with Category RGM Managers as they shape the final recommendations.
- Embed Price Pack Architecture (PPA) Best Practice: Develop the PPA playbook for the commercial team and coach Category RGM Managers on applying it — improving mix profitability and long-term portfolio performance.
- Accelerate Pricing Cycle Time: Streamline pricing processes and build the tools that reduce build time, surface insight faster, and free the team to focus on the decision rather than the data prep.
- Track Price Execution & Realization: Build and own the scorecards that make price realization visible — turning pricing commitments into measurable outcomes the commercial team is accountable to.
- Equip Category Teams with Tools & Materials: Develop the scalable pricing tools, simulations, and sales-ready selling materials that Category RGM Managers and Sales rely on to bring recommendations to customers with confidence.
- Coach & Build Capability: Act as the pricing thought leader for the commercial team — coaching Category RGM Managers, sharing best practice, and lifting the pricing IQ of the broader organization.
What You’ll Bring:
Experience
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in pricing, RGM, or commercial analytics, including time as a recognized internal expert or consultant in pricing strategy
Commercial Skills
- Deep expertise in pricing strategy, price pack architecture, margin management, and P&L drivers
- Track record of influencing pricing outcomes through others — coaching category owners, advising leadership, and building team capability
- Ability to translate analytics into clear, actionable recommendations that category owners can carry forward
- Strong communicator who can simplify complex analysis for commercial and executive audiences
- Experience with NIQ data and methodologies is preferred
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and Power BI for pricing analysis and decision support
- Experienced tool builder — pricing models, simulations, and what-if scenarios
- Comfortable using SQL and Python to navigate and manipulate large datasets
- Proven skills in process automation to improve pricing speed and consistency
- Familiarity with pricing or RGM platforms (e.g., NIQ Revenue Optimizer, XTEL RGM, Buynomics) is an asset
Education
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Analytics, or related discipline
- Graduate degree or analytics/finance-related certification is an asset
