Reliability Engineer

 The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Reliability Manager, this position will be responsible for developing and improving manufacturing equipment and processes by the application of engineering principles with a LEAN approach.

Compensation:   $71,000 - $103,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive

The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours.  In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan. 

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Provide leadership and support for manufacturing improvement projects aimed at enhancing equipment, processes, and systems to increase plant capacity, line efficiency, and Preventive Maintenance effectiveness.
  • Validate new and existing processes with Reliability team.
  • Review and participate in new equipment designs / upgrades / overhauls and oversee the commissioning process.
  • Apply Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies to support process improvements.
  • Participate in Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSHSRs), review findings, and manage updates.
  • Review and approve any equipment and process changes to assess and confirm safety implications (MOC)
  • Review and approve process documentation to standardize team member activities and procedures.
  • Define and oversee all visual management tools for the shop floor, including daily and weekly reporting.
  • Develop equipment and process modifications to support Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) reduction and failure prevention.
  • Support the execution of preventive maintenance activities, lead optimization efforts, and coordinate contractor support.
  • Develop and oversee predictive maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the breakdown management system, including troubleshooting, reporting and analysis, and recurrence prevention.
  • Develop reliability standards for performance measurement.
  • Demonstrate full commitment to implementing the Global Standard for Food Safety requirements and driving continual improvement in food safety and quality management processes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • College or university education in Engineering or an Engineering Technologist Diploma (mechanical, industrial, or electrical).
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience, preferably within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD, with solid to advanced spreadsheet capabilities, complemented by strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and passionate individual with a high sense of urgency who thrives on managing diverse tasks and consistently delivering results across multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles.
  • SAP knowledge an asset
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within team dynamics.
