General Labourer - Machine Operator

Location: 70 Heritage Drive, New Hamburg, Ontario
Now is a very exciting time to join the Maple Leaf family. Maple Leaf Foods is located in New Hamburg, ON. Currently, the New Hamburg Hatchery has the ability to hatch approximately 1,000,000 chicks per week. Our work includes everything from receiving eggs from our farms to distributing chicks to many growers across the province.
Position Summary:
Transferring eggs from incubators to the inovo machine (which vaccinates the chick while its still in the egg) after going through the machine they are transferred into hatch rooms.
Shifts are Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday
Monday and Tuesday start time - 1 or 2 pm
Friday and Saturday start time - 6 or 7 am

Responsibilities include:
- Set up of inovo equipment
- Pulling incubator buggies into inovo room
- Removing eggs from incubator buggies to place into inovo equipment
- Operating inovo equipment to vaccinate and transfer eggs
- Wash buggies and egg flats
- Removing and stacking full hatch trays
- Loading hatch tray stacks into hatchers
- Sanitation of inovo equipment
- Sanitation of work area
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Must be capable of lifting 50lbs repetitively (overhead lifting required)
- Must be able to work in a wet/humid environment
- Must be able to work in small groups with minimal supervision
- Must be able to move full Setter Racks of eggs
- Must be able to follow SOP’S , HACCP Requirements & schedules
- Must be capable of standing for long periods

- $21.20/hour – Hourly wage is $20.70/hour + 0.50 schedule premium (6 month wage progression wage starts at $19.70 – + 0.50 schedule premium)
