Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our Night Egg Set team in overseeing and coordinating the Egg Set process. The successful candidate will also assume full responsibility for hatchery operations during their shift and act as the primary contact during their scheduled weekend on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Set Eggs into Incubators as per schedule
Daily monitoring and troubleshooting of incubators/hatchers & room environments
Responsible for hatchroom and other hatchery alarms
Wash and sanitize chick boxes and rollers
On-call rotation, every other weekend
Chick hardening monitoring and hatcher turn-down scheduling
30-hour chick hatching percentage check
Formaldehyde dispensing and monitoring of hatchers
Monthly egg weighing
General Maintenance
Other duties as assigned
What’s in it for you?
$23.33- $24.33 per hour (based on progression)
All PPE is provided to employees (Boot Reimbursement of $125 after 3 months of service)
Qualifications
Must reside within 10 minutes of the hatchery
Must be physically able to lift 50lb repetitively and push/pull incubator racks up to 1200lb
Must be able to work in a warm/humid environment
Proven ability to follow SOP’s and schedules
Knowledge of hatchery operations and systems considered an asset
Demonstrates commitment to safe work practices
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) considered an asset
Strong problem solving skills an asset
Supervisory experience an asset
Standard First Aid with CPR ‘A’
Proven organizational and time management skills
Must understand and follow all Animal Welfare/PCP/Biosecurity procedures
Proven ability in current position (attendance included)
Proven organizational and time management skills
Able to work varying & flexible hours until job complete
Must be available to work Statutory Holidays
