Tempering Process Planner
The Tempering Process Planner is responsible for creating an effective schedule for tempering/defrosting of frozen meat blocks for use by the Maple Leaf Further Process Plants, based on the weekly requirements set out by Supply Chain. The Planner is accountable for providing feedback to Supply Chain and ensuring that the tempering plan is achievable and that logistics in product movement are optimized. The Planner will coordinate the schedule for receipt of frozen meat into Bradford and the shipment of tempered/defrosted meat to the Further Process Plants. The Planner will collaborate with the Bradford Optimization and Production Manager in finalizing the weekly processing schedule. The Planner will support cross functionally to promote increases in sustainable gross profit associated with tempering/defrosting activity.
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Understand the weekly tempering/defrosting requirements of our customers
Understand the tempering/defrosting capability and capacity of the Bradford Plant
Align manufacturing production plans to meet weekly customer demand. Proactively call out constraints to satisfy demand and seek out solutions to resolve the constraints
Co-ordinate the supply logistics for delivery of frozen meat to Bradford freezer storage location
Create and validate a weekly tempering/defrosting production schedule. Adjust in-week schedule to ensure customer demands are consistently met
Coordinate schedule for outbound deliveries of tempered/defrosted materials.
Report on tempering/defrosting key performance indicators (KPI’s)
Order Fill Rate
Raw Material Variance
Participate in a daily rhythm of variance identification, root cause analysis and commitment to corrective action
Document all standard operating procedures related to Tempering Process Planning and train a back-up for the role
What you will bring:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional plant teammates and external parties in achieving the tempering/defrosting goals and objectives, acting as subject matter expert. Demonstrated ability to influence plant operations with labour efficiency and raw material variance improvements
Demonstrated ability to satisfy customer requirements and to resolve logistical conflicts in a timely manner
Achievement of yearly objectives and development plans for ongoing process and business improvement
Timely delivery of tempered/defrosted materials to further processing plants at, or below, standard cost with consistently acceptable quality
Required Experience and Education:
2 to 3 years of experience in planning, freight scheduling or related logistics functions
University degree or Community College diploma in a related field is preferred
Demonstrated organizing, planning and scheduling experience
Specific logistics and/or operations training
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Team player with strong communication and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment
Ability to work independently and drive to solutions.
Action oriented with a proven ability to execute in a highly demanding operating environment
