Manager, Customer Demand Planning - Mississauga


As part of the Demand Planning team the Manager, Demand Planning leads a team of customer demand planning professionals responsible for demand management for major Maple Leaf customers.  The role is a key leader in the Sales and Operations Planning process with a focus on interacting with our Customer Business Teams (CBT’s) to bring the best possible information forward on which to base our production and inventory management plans.  The Manager also plays key leadership and support roles in the weekly sales forecasting process.
Customer demand planning is a critical connection between the commercial teams and the operational teams regarding promotional lift information.  The CDP managers work with the CBTs on a daily basis to ensure that Supply Chain Planning (SCP) has the best possible promotional information (draw timing, volumes, etc).
The Manager, CDP will also liaise directly with major customers to drive collaboration with a constant focus on improving information quality, timeliness, and availability in addition to working toward shared performance goals in both supply chains.


- Leads their team to execute a collaborative process with internal and external customers to forecast, share information, address issues and concerns, and review performance
- Supports the CBT’s with relevant SCP information regarding operational constraints, category planning, etc
- Analyze customer demand information and performance metrics and provide Sales with value add communication
- Responsible to monitor customer forecast accuracy and address issues / gaps and lead initiatives to improve
- Monitor actual customer demand against forecast and support internal and external communication requirements
- Integrate customer POS system information into our own internal demand planning processes
- Responsible for driving forecast performance accountability with sales groups through the development of solid forecasting processes, key metrics, actionable reports and continuous business review and communication 
- This person will lead their team to work in tight collaboration with Demand Planning co-workers, and Sales teams to develop the consensus based demand forecast
- Provides strong leadership to ensure effective development of their direct reports: the Customer Demand Managers
- Working with peers in the development and implementation of demand management processes, policies and strategies
- Works directly with senior leadership in Sales, Fulfillment, Finance (budget) and Supply Chain Planning

- University degree
- 7+ years of progressive experience in at least one of the following areas: Supply Chain Planning, Forecasting, Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline
- 2+ years leading a high performing team
- Requires an understanding of Forecasting, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales processes in a consumer packaged goods company, preferably in perishable products
- Thorough understanding of -and experience working in- a Sales and Operations Planning environment
- Strong desire and ability to ‘live’ the Maple Leaf Values
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coach in a fast pace, changing environment
- Superior interpersonal skills: ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment, including working cross-functionally
- Strong business acumen and computer skills, especially Excel/SAP
- Must have excellent analytical skills with an ability to understand, dissect and translate data into actionable information to support decision-making, and to make sound judgment calls when data is incomplete
- Bilingualism (English, French) would be an asset
- Experience with six sigma methodologies, concepts, and tools would be an asset
