The Sales Planning & Strategy Manager will support many aspects of the Foodservice Sales and Marketing teams including Business Performance reporting, SG&A reporting and administration, Rewards & Incentive reporting and well as Sales Planning through the S&OP process.  They will work closely with the SVP Foodservice to identify, implement and lead new processes and methods to help the entire team operate at a higher level.

The Sales Planning & Strategy Manager will need to be a highly motivated individual that provides top quality, value-added analysis, and takes a business partner approach to the Foodservice leadership team. 
They will also collaborate with the Demand and Supply Planning teams will also be an import facet of the role.  The Sales Operations Manager is an individual with exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills coupled with strong commercial acumen, with an ability to synthesize information into clear actionable insights.  Standard reports and analytics will be a routine component to the role as well as regular involvement in ad hoc queries and project work.

  • Provides leadership in all aspects of reporting, planning, and analytics in the following areas:
    • Business Performance - Sales reporting
    • Modeling and projecting operating plans (volume and margin)
    • Supply Chain Performance – Service levels and shorts reporting
    • S&OP - Demand planning and supply constraint resolution
    • Distressed Sales (‘Visibility Sales’ program)
    • Sales General & Administrative expenses
    • Ad-hoc initiatives and strategic project work
    • Build and maintain collaborative cross functional relationships
      • Sales, CSD, Supply, Demand, Finance, etc.
  • Identify and implement new tools and processes to enable more disciplined management and tracking of top priorities (customer projects and initiatives), execution, and results. Thought starters are:
    • Sales project trackers that are connected to financial reporting (i.e. weekly financial files, presentation prep for meetings with SLT member on business performance)
    • Database of all P&Ls for all projects
    • RFQ tracker for team, with enough detail to draw insights and identify actions to improve
  • Build and publish valued added business reports including:
    • Operating plan projections (volume and margin)
    • Monthly review of Sales, General & Admin costs for the entire Foodservice function, includly Year Budget and monthly forecast
    • Quarterly and YTD Sales performance by individual for various compensation purposes
  • Uses SAP BI, Excel and Consensus to provide clear helpful answers to ad hoc questions and reporting requests from Senior Management, Sales colleagues, or Finance teams
  • Other Sales or Sales operations-related initiatives and projects that may be deemed necessary, either time-sensitive or long-term
Sales Planning & Strategy Specifically:
  • Leads core planning processes and key business initiatives across several stakeholders
  • Advises and councils sales leadership team on business issues with facts and analysis
  • Manages programs and key initiatives for sales benefit against planning strategies. Researches problems, and delivers solutions working cross-functionally to resolve.
  • Develops complex solutions to business problems through in-depth analysis, coordination and negotiation with key decision makers.
  • Develops innovative and creative output based on interpretation and analysis that improves business performance and contributes to corporate goals and strategic intent.
  • Anticipates operational program, and implementation issues and develops preventative measures.
  • Uses experience, innovation and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information.
  • Knowledge of industry and business principles related to sales process and key performance indicators.
  • Leverages business acumen and financial acumen to give advice and execute program delivery.
  • Analyzes and forecasts business and market trends.
  • Executes goals and strategy within area of responsibility. Contributes to strategic decisions affecting the discipline.
  • Handles diverse range of issues that require evaluation of a variety of factors including current business trends.
  • Influences a broad spectrum of stakeholders toward achieving business goals.
  • University degree or college diploma preferably in a business or Marketing concentration
  • Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Value
  • Background in Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, Sales Demand Planning or Supply Chain
  • 3-5 years of value-add analytical experience
  • Analytical mind (multiple sources of data to find insights and identify actions for Senior Management)
  • Strategic thinking (the ability to understand strategic priorities)
  • Understanding of P&L statements and the factors that influence profitability in a business
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit, intellectually curiosity, and a passion to brew successful.  All in a team environment.

  • Must be proactive and performance driven, have a bias for action and be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced Office literacy in Excel (Pivot Tables, SumIfs, VLookUps, etc.), PowerPoint, Word
