POSITION SUMMARY:

A member of the Site Leadership Team, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering all Human Resources services to the site, including direction and support to leaders, management and staff within the Plant in areas such as leadership development, performance management, human rights, employment law, labour law, labour relations, HR policy interpretation and conflict resolution. Additionally, the position has responsibility for 1 salaried staff.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify key HR initiatives for the Plant, ensure they are aligned with the operational strategy
• Ensure MLF initiatives are fully executed and supported
• Facilitate execution of organizational development and change management initiatives which will drive cultural change
•  Primary deliverables include tools and interventions in the areas of performance management, work environment practices, rewards and recognition, retention, leadership development, compensation, employee development and advancement, diversity and employee satisfaction
• Consistent in ensuring corporate values are followed and underlie all human resources activities.
• Current Employees, New employees and Contractors are set up for success: they understand corporate/HRT rules and processes. 
• HR manager is actively engaged and proactive in a number of plant meetings and committees in order.
• Corporate initiatives are implemented effectively (e.g., policies, regulations, programs, etc.)
• Has a cooperative, collaborative relationship with plant management as a business partner.
• Provides support, assistance and direction to employees.
• Ensure that Human Resources Key Performance Indicators such as Attendance, Turnover, Retention etc. are tracked and monitored
• Administration of collective agreement.  Handle all aspects of Labour Relations including grievance and disciplinary investigation.
•  Investigate and resolve employee/management concerns/complaints/harassment.
•  Provide direction/counselling to supervisors/managers.
•  Provides leadership on the administration of employee benefit, payroll, pension programs and HRIS.
• Prepare HR budgets and ensure they are adhered to.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all staff and management.
 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 – 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience with unionized and non-union employees and a minimum 2 years supervisory experience. Preference will be given to individuals with CPHR designations
• Post-secondary degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management, business or related field
• A strong track record of excellent client support and partnering with others
• Excellent verbal/written communication; strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Experience with Health and Safety, Kronos, SAP desired
• Must have the ability to multi task in a fast paced, demanding manufacturing environment
• Proven ability to coach, teach, and lead others
• Possess a strong business orientation
• Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and develop positive working relationships
