This role will support the execution of the overall Supplier Strategy program and initiatives. This individual is accountable for consistently preparing and delivering strategic metrics reporting to cross functional stakeholders. The focus of the role is to gather information from multiple sources within and outside of the company, and drive execution of the Supplier Strategy. This role is also required to actively provide FS&Q (Food Safety & Quality) process improvement recommendations and seek to applying best FS&Q practices to our ongoing food safety journey with suppliers and co-manufacturers.


  • Collect information to determine baseline supplier and co-manufacturer performance status against a list of targeted FS&Q KPIs.
  • Develop requirements documentation to enable suppliers and co-manufacturers to show conformance to the MLF FS&Q program.
  • Hold suppliers and co-manufacturers accountable to deliver performance information on time.
  • Proactively build the mitigation plan with suppliers and co-manufacturers to reduce risk to MLF by identifying inherent and perceived food safety risks in the purchased materials.
  • Holding suppliers and co-manufacturers accountable to implement definitive corrective actions against those inherent & perceived risks.
  • Monitor supplier non-conformance events reported from the MLF manufacturing facilities to measure efficacy of corresponding NC corrective actions.
  • Implement a system of "ranking" performance of our suppliers and co-manufacturers against FS&Q requirements for each commodity, by developing a comprehensive plan to capture & trend issues and related corrective actions intended to mitigate food safety & quality deficiencies.
  • Build a process driven program to enable suppliers and co-manufacturers to mature in FS&Q performance
  • Develop & implement the standardized MLF Supplier & Co-manufacturer Food Safety & Quality scorecard to measure performance against each individual supplier, similar supplier comparisons and overall supplier performance against conformance to the food safety and quality of products provided to MLF.
  • Manage requests and provide replies for business-critical supplier and co-manufacturer performance information
  • Using supplier and co-manufacturer performance data, collaborate with MLF Purchasing and MLF Procurement teams to enable the best quality of supplied materials & products into our MLF manufacturing facilities.
  • Prepare detailed scheduled reporting of supplier and co-manufacturer performance metrics
  • Keep key MLF Stakeholders informed of gaps where suppliers or co-manufacturers fail to meet performance requirements.
  • Continue to provide updates to the MLF Co-manufacturers Food Safety & Quality Manual and the MLF Suppliers Food Safety & Quality Manual for distribution to suppliers.
  • Assess efficacy and accuracy of information transfer to & from suppliers & co-manufacturers, to enhance with automation & technology.
  • Post-secondary education in Food Science or related study
  • 5+ years of experience in a food manufacturing facility
  • Working level knowledge of Regulatory requirements including CFIA, USDA, Health Canada, FDA, etc.
  • Advanced ability to create and report technical information
  • Project management experience
  • Six Sigma tools, Statistical Process Control,
  • Exceptional communication skills – verbal and written
  • Strong customer service focus with ability to positively forge partnerships within the business and with suppliers & co-manufacturers
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
  • Well organized enabling on time deliverables
  • Manage multiple and changeable milestones/deadlines
  • Proficient in Office Suite, SAP, Visio, SharePoint
  • Confidence presenting information and speaking publicly, including to Senior Management
