The Procurement & Planning Analyst is responsible for meeting our live turkey processing commitments for both headcount and kilograms through participation in the development of the Turkey placement and procurement plans.  This role will be responsible for the Long Term Procurement Plan, while working closely with our 3rd party processors, optimization and other external stakeholders to maximize the executional effectiveness of this plan.  This role will report directly to the Live Turkey Procurement Manager.
Long Term Supply Planning:  Creates and maintains the 3 year forecast of weekly turkey volume by head count and type. This includes:
  • Key person in ensuring the long term Processing Schedule is aligned with the following stakeholders: sales, procurement operations, optimization, primary processing plant and farm schedule limitations
  •  Responsible for planning live production for our plant targets for size, timing, quality and headcount
  •  Building strong working relationships and daily interactions with producers, hatchery & plant operations, field staff, feed partners, optimization and TFO to build the long term processing plan.
  • Responsible for the daily communications with the producers and Hatcheries to coordinate placement dates and headcount, and confirming actual placement information to effectively execute the long term kill plan.
  • Responsible for incorporating the grower barn production placements into an overall weekly planning schedule forecast (“Live Supply File”) that meets marketing requirements.
  • Responsible for coordinating the long term supply schedule with our 3rd party broiler trades, and tracking that processed kilograms are meeting terms of agreements.
  • Responsible for tracking individual producer production (Grow Schedules), and ensuring the producer meets their production obligations and quota usage within a turkey year.
RWA Program Administration: Responsible for planning RWA production, as well as ensuring our RWA Program requirements are being followed in the production process
  •  Obtains annual RWA Program signoffs from Producers
  • Tracks individual RWA flock numbers and coordinates these flock numbers for use between the Hatchery, Feed Mill and Producers as placements occur.
  • Ensures “crashed” RWA flocks are identified in the production schedule and removed from the RWA processing schedule
  • Maintaining our RWA documentation (SOP’s) and Audit Records for MLF and 3rd party audits
  • Maintaining our RWA producer database of flock performance
  • Ensures the processing schedule is aligned to RWA product demands.
  • RWA Supplies (acidification and water additive products) coordination for chicken and turkey.

Producer and Processor Contract Management:
  • Responsible for the overall writing, storage, and communication of Producer and Processor contracts.
  • Responsible for maintaining producer contracts, creating and coordinating with Head Office for executing them.
Regrow Management:
  • Responsible for tracking Regrow kilogram usage and commitments to our External Producer partners and processors.
  • Liaise with the TFO on end of year flock marketing reconciliation and ensure our marketing      records agree with the TFO.
  • Maintain the “Sources and Uses” database where production kilograms are measured against sources of Turkey Quota and Regrow commitments.
  • Liaise with Optimization to ensure regrow generation is on track to meet our forecasted commitments.
Producer Payments
  • Verify that Producer Payment Package matches SAP sold kgs
  • Ensures payments are keyed accurately for negotiated deals and initiated for review by Procurement Manager
Other Duties: 
  • Accountable for contributing to the delivery of the team’s performance objectives.
  • Special projects as requested.

  • Using a Six Sigma approach to drive forward continuous improvement opportunities
  • Back up to the Shipping Turkey Procurement Analyst as needed.
  • Post-secondary education or University Degree in Agriculture, Business, Science or related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
  • 1-3 years working experience

  • Working knowledge of the poultry procurement functional processes.
  • Strong influencing (Persuasion and Negotiation), assertiveness and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong planning, analytical, decision making, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment.
  • An ability to work independently; be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • High level of computer competency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and SAP.
