The Manager of Scheduling & Capacity Planning is a key role on the Fresh Poultry Planning team.  This individual will lead the team of production planners across the fresh poultry network.  Working closely with Manufacturing, Distribution and Supply Chain teams, he/she will have responsibility for the scheduling fulfillment of orders to customer.  In the make-to-order supply chain of Fresh Poultry, this role will be responsible for planning from day of order fill to 5 days outward visibility.  This role will also work closely with Operations and Industrial Engineering teams to identify, report and plan against production capabilities.  These capabilities will be used to inform our supply planning team on master plans as well as co-manufacturing schedules.


  • Lead, develop & coach production planners across Maple Leaf’s fresh poultry facilities
  • Lead interplant raw material support.
  • Lead and communicate production capabilities across fresh poultry network.
  • Maintain/improve production finite scheduling processes.
  • Process directives and price changes.
  • Liaison with purchasing/marketing to support labeling/packaging coordination.
  • Liaison with Fresh Poultry Supply Chain team on plant and live capabilities.
  • Liaison with Customer Service and Execution teams on plant capabilities and issues.
  • Manage daily production execution issues and concerns.
  • Responsible for production scheduling metrics.
  • Drive initiatives for process improvement.


  • Daily production schedules created, communicated and measured for the next 5 business days by production planners
  • Communicate manufacturing capabilities
  • Achievement of daily and weekly fill rate targets across Maple Leaf’s fresh poultry plants
  • Identification of continuous improvement opportunities and completion of projects
  • Volume/profit optimization of fresh chicken supply
  • Insight on key capability and demand signals/trends


  • Experience in a food manufacturing, specifically fresh meats, is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Business or Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a related role
  • Prior experience with direct reports & people leadership
  • Supply Chain Planning experience and/or certifications (APICS, P.Log, CITT, etc)
  • Change Management experience implementing new processes
  • Experience using a ERP planning module for finite scheduling (SAP or other)
  • Excellent leadership & change management skills
  • A clear understanding of how to coordinate the efforts of raw materials supply, forecasting, supply planning, and the execution of a production plan
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills and a great process driven problem solver
  • Strong customer focus and understands individual customer demands and requirements
  • Ability to build a strong working relationship with other functional teams
  • Ability to function in a fast paced production environment
