As part of Maple Leaf Food’s Lethbridge Pork team, you will lead, enable and coordinate the safe, efficient, cost effective and environmentally responsible production of safe, high quality food products within an assigned area of the Lethbridge Pork plant.  Ensure employees under their direction always perform their tasks according to GMPs, HAACP procedures and Health and Safety policies and regulations.  Shift times vary Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays.


  • Provide leadership, coaching and direct supervision to hourly employees in the assigned department
  • Manage safe, cost effective and efficient production
  • Ensure orders are accurate and ready daily for on-time distribution to our customers
  • Continuously improve plant manufacturing resources, processes, efficiencies and quality workmanship
  • Ensure employee safety and overall compliance to Alberta’s Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are safe; hourly employees are trained and qualified on machinery prior to working on machinery and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all HACCP procedures
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with union members
  • Administer the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Ensure open and effective communication with both hourly and salaried employees

  • Maintain him/herself as an engaged, trusted, respected and productive employee
  • Available to work overtime hours as required
  • Any other duties as assigned


  • Previous manufacturing and warehouse experience an asset
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and safety policies
  • Good understanding of the Carlisle system, as well as knowledge of SAP
  • Good understanding of production processes and procedures, product requirements and yields to fill customer orders
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills
  • Excellent planning, organizing, judgement, decision making and analytical skills
  • Well-developed English communication skills (verbal, written, reading, comprehension)
  • Excellent initiative and leadership skills
  • Experience with WHMIS, hazard analysis and accident investigation
  • May require Forklift, Bobcat certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years or supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting

Volume & Complexity of Work: (Volume Completed through typical procedures with moderate complexity, multiple deadlines, priority conflicts
Travel Requirements: None/10%
Physical Requirements: None/Little physical effort (10-25% of Time)
