In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management and acts as an employee champion and change agent. This role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and fully integrates themselves into the salary team by communicating needs proactively with their cross functional teams.  As a true business partner, the incumbent will be responsible for all plant specific HR requirements of salary employees, regarding staffing, performance management, recruitment, retention and all areas of employee relations and programs.  The successful incumbent will have worked in a related field with demonstrated experience in managing salary staff in a large fast past work environment.



  • Develop, implement and execute pro-active employee relations programs in support of the People Strategy and Heritage’s Top 5 priorities
  • Provide leadership to corporate programs such as PAD, LER and Merit Cycle
  • Provides direction and support to salary staff in such areas as workplace policy, payroll, benefits, recruiting, compensation, employee legislation, staffing, current and new systems
  • Actively engaging leaders in daily issues and problem resolution in support of business needs.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of all HR processes and ensure consistent application.
  • Drive the recruitment and onboarding program for our salary staff while ensuring we are adhering to our budgets and headcount
  • Measure and take action as required on a comprehensive suite of people performance indicators such as attendance, turnover and retention
  • Continuous reporting on key metrics, identifying trends and proposing proactive actions which will support in the achievement of our plant targets
  • Executing top grading/muscle building initiatives
  • Work with leaders to identify recruitment needs and play an active role in the selection process while utilizing the Leadership Hiring Tools.
  • Complete all administrative tasks related to our salary staff which includes ensuring all SAP transactions are completed on time
  • Guide and support all employees in the Maple Leaf Values


The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. Candidates must have:
  • 5 plus years in a Human Resources leadership role
  • Post Secondary Education with a focus in Human Resources
  • CHRP designation or evidence of working toward designation would be preferred
  • Related experience in a large manufacturing environment supporting a salaried leadership client group
  • Demonstrated experience in performance and development
  • Proven ability to coach, teach, and lead others
  • A strong track record of change management activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced changing manufacturing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative, analyze and problem solve
  • Work with minimal supervision and be active team member
