POSITION SUMMARY:
Maple Leaf Foods is seeking a career minded individual to join our Distribution team as an Assistant Supervisor. This position supervises hourly employees on a shift within the distribution center to ensure workloads are completed accurately and in a timely manner to ensure on time departure of shipments.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving in conjunction with the Distribution Supervisor to ensure all orders are shipped on time;
  • Responsible for executing SAP EWM transactions around checking on shipments, creating warehouse tasks and warehouse orders, assessing product availability of orders, update orders as required;
  • Provide required operational performance and delivery information to the Distribution Supervisor;
  • Manage all issues with carriers to ensure the efficient unloading and loading of trailers;
  • Ensure all shipping employees are properly trained in health & safety and food safety policy/procedures and the duties and responsibilities of their current role;
  • Evaluation of department employees.
  • Provide day to day direction to department employees;
  • Coaching and counseling of department employees;
  • Appropriate communication with internal and external suppliers and customers;
  • Effective communication with the Distribution Supervisor;
  • Ensuring a safe work environment through safety awareness, practice, and promotion;
  • Other project work as assigned by management.

  • Related experience in managing or coaching.
  • Related department experience (direct or indirect i.e. shipping, reports, etc.)
