Position Summary
The Truck Washer is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of chick transport trucks, trailers, loading bays, and associated equipment. This role plays a critical part in supporting biosecurity, animal welfare, sanitation standards, and chick quality by ensuring transportation equipment is cleaned and prepared for daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all chick transport trucks are washed and sanitized according to established schedules, with a goal of maintaining a minimum twice-weekly cleaning cycle for all vehicles.
  • Coordinate and complete truck washing activities after production hours to maximize operational efficiency and minimize disruption to hatchery operations.
  • Ensure trucks returning later in the day are cleaned and prepared for future use before the next scheduled dispatch.
  • Monitor truck sanitation standards and proactively identify opportunities to improve cleaning frequency, consistency, and accountability.
  • Maintain truck bays, wash stations, and related equipment in a clean, organized, and operational state.
  • Support sanitation operations during staffing shortages, employee absences, or periods of increased workload.
  • Clean truck cab interiors, including garbage removal and floor mat maintenance.
  • Perform routine cleaning of steps, platforms, lift gates, and access areas.
  • Assist with snow, ice, and buildup removal during winter conditions.
  • Communicate sanitation concerns, equipment deficiencies, or scheduling issues to supervisors.
  • Ensure sanitation procedures are completed in accordance with biosecurity and operational standards.

What’s in it for you?
  • $21.10 - $22.10 per hour (based on progression)

Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid Ontario G driver’s licence and be comfortable safely maneuvering and repositioning trucks within designated yard areas.
  • Ability to work flexible hours until tasks are completed
  • Physically capable of frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching. Must be comfortable working in conditions that may involve strong odours, noise, wet surfaces and humidity.
  • Able to follow SOPs, sanitation schedules, and health & safety protocols
  • Must adhere to PCP, WHIMS and CFIA standards
