The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Internal Reporting & Systems, this role is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of month-end close, including the review of account reconciliations and journal entries. The position also supports finance system transformation initiatives and leads the consolidation and reporting of operating unit results, including the preparation of monthly internal management reports and financial statements

Compensation: $94,000 - $141,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting, and ensuring management is aware of relevant trends and issues;
- Support in the redesign of department’s processes and implement best practice and continuous improvement utilizing technology;
- Responsible for regular review of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries;
- Review and oversee the preparation of monthly management reporting;
- Ensure that all the month-end activities are performed on-time for hand off to external consolidation and reporting team;
- Act as liaison with internal and external auditors, coordinating reviews and managing deliverables;
- Help manage and standardize accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions at local operating units;
- Prepare tax reporting packages to assist the Tax team in the preparation of year end provisions and annual tax filings;
- Manage the monthly timelines for the completion of the financial close process, working cross-functionally with other teams within Maple Leaf;
- Oversee the operating effectiveness and self-test of internal controls within the team, identifying any weaknesses and making process improvements as necessary;
- Other ad hoc accounting and reporting tasks as required.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
- CPA designation;
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting & Finance;
- Strong knowledge of IFRS;
- Bilingual in French and English;
- Availability for travel within Canada – approx. 2 weeks per month;
- Experience with public company reporting is an asset;
- In depth knowledge of Excel;
- Self-starter with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Attention to detail;
- Action oriented with excellent time management skills;
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and communication skills;
- Excellent problem-solving abilities;
- Ability to work within tight deadlines;
- Experience with SAP (or similar ERP system) and/or Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) is an asset;
- Experience with system implementation.

L’occasion :

- Chargé de vérifier régulièrement les rapprochements du bilan et les écritures comptables;
- Examiner et surveiller la préparation des rapports de gestion mensuels;
- Veiller à ce que toutes les opérations de fin de mois soient effectuées dans les délais prescrits afin de permettre le transfert vers l'équipe externe chargée de la consolidation et de la communication de l’information financière;
- Assurer la liaison avec les auditeurs internes et externes, coordonner les vérifications et gérer les livrables;
- Contribuer à la gestion et à la standardisation des fonctions liées aux comptes fournisseurs, aux comptes clients et à la paie au sein des unités opérationnelles locales;
- Préparer les dossiers fiscaux afin d'aider l'équipe fiscale à établir les provisions de fin d'exercice et les déclarations fiscales annuelles;
- Gérer les échéances mensuelles pour la finalisation du processus de clôture financière, en collaborant de manière transversale avec d'autres équipes au sein de Maple Leaf;
- Superviser l'efficacité opérationnelle et l'auto-évaluation des contrôles internes au sein de l'équipe, en identifiant les éventuelles faiblesses et en apportant les améliorations nécessaires aux processus;
- Autres tâches ponctuelles liées à la comptabilité et aux rapports, selon les besoins.
Ce que vous apporterez :
- Baccalauréat en comptabilité ou en finance;
- Titre de CPA;
- Minimum de 5 années d’expérience en comptabilité et en finances;
- Solides connaissances des normes IFRS;
- Bilingue en français et en anglais;
- Disponible pour voyager au Canada – environ 2 semaines par mois;
- Une expérience de l'information financière des sociétés ouvertes est un atout;
- Connaissance approfondie d’Excel;
- Faire preuve d'initiative et être capable de travailler de manière autonome avec un minimum de supervision;
- Le souci du détail;
- Une attitude proactive et une excellente gestion du temps;
- De solides compétences en matière de relations interpersonnelles, de gestion des parties prenantes et de communication;
- Excellentes capacités de résolution de problèmes;
- Capacité à travailler dans des délais serrés;

The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.
