The Opportunity:
The Transportation Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and statistical reporting support for Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) Transportation activities. Activities include monthly KPI’s, variance analysis, scorecard maintenance, carrier selection / negotiation / performance measurement and cost savings projects. Working closely with Transportation leaders, this role recommends freight and distribution alternatives to provide efficient solutions for the MLF Distribution network, while optimizing customer service levels

Base Salary: $58,000 – $87,000 CAD base pay annually
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Analyze transportation and logistics data (shipping volumes, routes, costs, delivery performance) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and capacity opportunities across the MLF network
- Develop a holistic understanding of the transportation network to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
- Monitor and evaluate carrier performance, ensuring compliance with service KPIs and contractual requirements
- Partner with Transportation Planning and internal stakeholders to review performance, address variances, and identify improvement opportunities
- Facilitate regular business review meetings with primary carriers to drive performance and accountability
- Support transportation leadership in the development and execution of RFPs/RFQs for third-party carriers
- Manage and resolve carrier claims in collaboration with QA and cross-functional teams
- Assist in the development and maintenance of third-party carrier SOPs and operational guides
- Provide analytical support during annual budgeting and forecasting cycles
- Conduct monthly variance analysis and trend reporting to support decision-making
- Lead and support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects across the transportation network
- Recommend and implement automated workflows and reporting tools to streamline planning, tracking, and performance monitoring
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting of KPIs, dashboards, and carrier scorecards
- Maintain and update freight rate databases to ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution teams and external logistics partners
- Provide cross-functional support for other analyst roles as required
- Identify process gaps and recommend scalable, data-driven improvements
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong knowledge of distribution, transportation, and freight costing
- 3-5 years of Logistics experience including warehouse & transportation with a large organization with multiple profit centers
- Knowledge of US Freight Customs, USDA Border cross process would be an asset
- Professional designation (e.g.: CITT, P.Log) or other related courses would be an asset
- Demonstrates strong team player

- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to provide insight
- Strong problem solving, prioritization & organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with strict timelines
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills that allow for informal and formal networking across the organization
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel
- Functional capability with SAP, BEX, BI is an asset
