Corporate Auditor, Food Safety & Compliance

 The Opportunity:

The Corporate Auditor, Food Safety & Compliance is part of the corporate Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team.  The role will lead, coordinate, and execute Product Compliance Standard Audits across Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) manufacturing facilities. 

As a member of the FSQA Internal Audit team, the Corporate Auditor, Food Safety & Compliance will engage to further progress the Internal Audit Strategy by providing feedback, coaching, and support to plants with understanding the Food Safety Quality Management System (FSQMS) program and product compliance expectations. The role drives continuous improvement through dissemination of best practices and identification of common program challenges across the network.  

The Corporate Auditor, Food Safety & Compliance will report to the Director FSQA - Internal Audit. The Director is accountable for the successful implementation of the Internal Audit Strategy.

Compensation:  $94,000 - $141,000 CAD base pay annually 

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

Conduct Internal Audits. This includes:
  • Audit Preparation including review of previous reports, preparation of audit agenda and timings
  • Execution of audit including document review, on-site verification and challenges
  • Coaching and non-conformance review during audit 
  • Corrective Action Plan coaching, approval and review 
  • Audit Report Writing and related documentation
  • Provide audit executive summaries and recommendations

Support Internal Audit Strategy and Program Development
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit Team to Review and Assess changes to BRCGS standard 
  • Work in partnership with Internal Audit team and FSQMS and HACCP teams to create program efficiencies, develop joint SOPs, tools, and reference/guidance materials for the MLF Product Compliance Audit Standard 
  • Provide direct support to plants as required
 

What You’ll Bring:

  • The position requires a business professional with the following:
Qualifications:
  • Food Industry experience, knowledge of Food Safety and Quality best practices, and demonstrated auditing expertise
  • Bachelor of Science or similar 
  • Certified as Internal Auditor, and 3rd Party Lead Auditor
  • Demonstrated HACCP competency
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Food Plant environment, preferably within FSQA leadership capacity
  • Ability to travel as per the business requirements

The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours.  In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.
