The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice President, Food Safety and Quality Assurance and Animal Care, the Manager, Regulatory Compliance is responsible for ensuring end to end adherence to regulatory standards and customer requirements in both the domestic and international markets. This includes developing excellent regulatory knowledge, completing the appropriate registrations for new skus, and supporting the labelling and packaging processes. In addition, the Manager, Regulatory Compliance provides regulatory support to the business teams and interacts with government agencies as required.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- On-going ownership and management of Canada Packer’s registrations & skus in foreign countries (i.e. CIFER, MFDS)
- Has, or ability to develop, superior knowledge of labelling regulations in both Canadian and International markets
- Interact with government agencies when clarifications are required or to resolve registration issues
- Ensure full regulatory compliance with both existing and new products
- Provide regulatory subject matter expertise to business teams
- Approve labelling changes from a regulatory perspective and backup support to in-house labelling ECR process
- Work on cross-functional teams in all stages of ideation, development, validation of claims and execution of packaging including graphics contracting and approvals
- Work with packaging suppliers, provide technical assistance and knowledge during implementation of packaging components based on our quality and efficiency standards
- When required, lead and conduct packaging integrity trials/research at plants to validate product life cycle including storage/handling/distribution
- Ownership of Canada Packer’s GS1 account and accountability for customer requirements related to such
What You’ll Bring:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline such as Food Science, Quality Assurance, Nutrition, Science, or in Regulatory Affairs
- 5+ years of experience in regulatory, compliance, labelling and packaging within the food industry, preferably meat protein
- Strong knowledge of Canadian, U.S. and International food labeling regulations
- Problem solver with quality decision making skills and comfortable dealing with ambiguity
- Proven leadership skills with experience in leading teams
- Possess influential leadership and strong people skills
- Proactive and performance driven; must have a bias for action and be able to work under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Microsoft office skills required
- SAP / SAP RD knowledge
