Inventory Deployment Planner

Mississauga - Financial Dr., ON

 The Opportunity:

Inventory Deployment is the final and most critical step in Maple Leaf Food’s internal supply chain. As an Inventory Deployment Planner, you are accountable for the movement of goods between our factories and our warehouses. In this role, you will apply financial data and Supply Chain Analytics in your decision making to ensure that the right products are deployed to the right warehouse in the right quantities at the right time, all while optimizing between transportation costs, logistics risks, warehouse efficiency, and product freshness.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Apply Supply Chain Analytics via our best-in-class SAP/IBP module to determine weekly and daily deployment plans to balance finished goods inventory across our Distribution Centers (DC) and third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses across Canada and the US
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Planning, and Transportation to perform Cost vs. Time analysis to build out daily deployment loads that maximize freight efficiency and fill rate.
  • Collaborate with our commercial partners to review upcoming commercial activities (such as product launches / seasonal builds / promotions and features) and develop bespoke inventory strategies to maximize product availability and distribution
  • Identify and execute alternative options for more cost-effective / more sustainable deployment strategics with the use of Supply Chain Insights data, including (but not limited to) SAP / IBP reports, Master Data, PowerBI dashboards, and 3PL reporting
  • Oversee the finished goods replenishment process and the finished goods rotation process to ensure fresh inventory across our corporate and 3PL distribution centres and warehouses.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurring instances of product excess / product shortage
  • Partner with Customer Supply Chain to collaborate on joint problem solving
  • Create new digital tools / dashboards / apps to support process improvement and to advance the digitization of our supply chain
  • Lead the sharing of best practices in the spirit of continuous improvement and collaboration

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education and/or professional designation in a related field
  • 2-4 years experience within Supply Chain
  • SAP ECC, IBP experience
  • Strong understanding of the overall supply chain process and its interrelationships with other functional areas
  • Strong analytical abilities, particularly in the areas of Supply Chain insights and financial analysis
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with a bias for fact-based planning
  • Excellent problem solving, oral & written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including intermediate/advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrate a curiosity to critically review and improve the efficiency of internal processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple teams with competing interests
  • Strong change management skills
  • Appetite to learn, grow and take on increasingly more responsibility
