Least Cost Formulation Specialist

 The Opportunity:

 Least Cost Formulation Specialist  is responsible for managing raw materials to ensure optimal formulation costs through least cost formulations, raw material inventory management, and scheduling efficiency. Scope of position is all LCF (FORMAT) system execution and maintenance, and all raw material inventory management.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Manages raw material inventories both fresh and frozen
  • Produces daily formulations from LCF format system
  • Runs weekly production for raw materials based on production plans
  • Communicated closed with meat procurement to ensure plant requirements are met either by increasing or decreasing raw material orders
  • Produces STO orders from storage warehouse for raw materials
  • Communicates substitutions to production when called for raw material is not available and or re-formulates
  • Investigates raw material non-compliance issues
  • Sets up pre-blending raw material requirements for the next days production
  • May require working on an off shift and on weekends based on business requirements
  • Maximizing least cost material usage in formulation and pre-blends
  • Plan fill rate and conformance targets with regards to raw material supply to satisfy production demands and schedules
  • Produces process orders for production within SAP
  • Execute detailed scheduling functions with ECP
  • Develop and manage inventory control processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Single point of contact for ASRS inventory management
  • Running least cost formulations to targeted cost savings
  • Measurable reduction in tankage of raw materials
  • Send out daily schedules for analysis as well as end of day results
  • Support Scheduling team with KPI’s reporting as needed
  • Shall demonstrate full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Operations or Business Management (APICS certification is desirable) and have knowledge of food processing and distribution
  • Between 2-5+ years experience in production control, planning, inventory control and/or materials in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of data analysis, forecasting methods, supply chain principles
  • Proficient in Supply Chain concepts (safety stock planning, MRP calculations, scheduling constraints and bottlenecks, etc.)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and impact others at various levels within the organization to achieve results
  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or production planning software
  • Ability to use complex optimizing tools to reduce production costs including changeovers and downtime
  • An analytical mind with strong problem solving skills
  • Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Reliable, trustworthy, self-motivated
  • Volume & Complexity of Work - A fast paced work environment with multiple, tight and changing priorities
  • Travel Requirements – Minimal
  • Physical Requirements- Low
  • Ability to work off shifts inclusive of on call support, evenings and weekends
