Job Overview:
The Chick Delivery Driver is responsible for the handling, loading, unloading, and transportation of birds between the Wetaskiwin Hatchery and various farm locations. This role requires a strong commitment to animal welfare, biosecurity measures, and physical endurance due to the demanding nature of the job. The Chick  Delivery Driver will work closely with Farm Managers and coordinate with internal and external contractors and teams to ensure efficient operations.

The successful applicant will perform the duties of both Chick Delivery Driver and Egg Truck Driver. Chick Delivery Drivers ensure the timely and safe delivery of newly hatched birds to client farms over Alberta while providing exceptional service. Egg Truck Drivers are responsible for picking-up eggs from designated egg producers and transporting them to our hatchery.

Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
7:00 – 8:00 am until finish
Weekends scheduled sanitation as required

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load, unload, and physically handle birds
  • Ensure humane handling and transportation of birds
  • Load birds onto dollies (up to 1000 lbs. per dolly) and transport them using the company truck to various locations around Alberta
  • Ensure the correct number of birds are delivered to each location
  • Sanitize truck as per schedule to prepare for safe deliveries
  • Complete circle checks, log books, and other regulatory requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of all machinery and equipment
  • Coordinate with farm managers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure the timely, accurate and safe delivery of the birds
  • Following SOP’s, Health and Safety and animal welfare protocols
  • Manually load and unload product according to plant and customer specifications
  • Other duties as assigned






Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid Class 3 license with an experienced driving record
  • Able to accommodate a flexible schedule which may be altered due to weather, cancellations and other logistic changes
  • Strong understanding and commitment to animal welfare practices
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods
  • Capable and willing to work independently
  • Must be capable of lifting 50lbs. repetitively
  • Must be able to work in a wet/humid environment, and in barns with strong scents
  • Willingness to work in a dirty environment
  • Must be able to follow SOP’s & schedules
  • Must adhere to PCP requirements
  • Willing to schedule breaks around job needs
