The Opportunity:
The Automation Specialist position at our Lagimodiere facility is part of an automation team responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and maintaining automated industrial controls and equipment across the entire facility - including production and facility support equipment.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Effectively troubleshoot HMI, PLC, Remote IO, VFD, electronic control-related, and communication network issues within the facility, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Interpret and read electrical/control diagrams, with strong expertise in field devices such as pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.
- Experience working with industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, Profibus, Profinet and Ethernet/IP.
- Maintain the FactoryTalk Asset Centre repository for synchronized backups and performing routine manual backups of assets that are not included in Asset Centre, such as VFDs.
- Maintain equipment related and computer integration software to ensure revisions are current. Keep current backups of all machine and robot related control systems.
- Perform routine checks of automation Level 2 network assets to ensure devices remain accessible on the network.
- Liaise with corporate Information Solutions to resolve issues with plant MES systems, production floor systems and local plant network.
- Provide on-site support for all plant process control and monitoring of automation systems.
- Ability to write and interpret PLC programs in LAD, FBD and STL.
- Carrying out approved program modifications to PLCs, HMIs and SCADA systems to improve machine efficiency and reliability.
- Perform preventive maintenance on automation equipment, including plant CCTV systems, to ensure continuous optimal performance.
- Provide technical support and training to plant maintenance team as required.
- Ensure proper documentation of changes and updates made to the plant automation systems.
- Provide input on equipment installation, total predictive/preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA, PCS, MES, and BAS systems.
What You’ll Bring:
- The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and possess the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. The ideal candidate has:
- A minimum of a diploma in Industrial Automation, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering or equivalent education.
- A minimum of 2-3 years hands-on automation experience.
- Experience working with Allen Bradley PLC, HMI and SCADA systems is required.
- Experience working with DeltaV systems, Delta Controls, B&R PLCs, Beckhoff PLCs is considered a plus.
- This position primarily works on the PM shift (2pm – 10:30pm) and requires willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
