A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do: 

  • Lead and effectively engage with the FSQA teams in our manufacturing facilities to execute/implement LabVantage LIMS programs to drive continuous improvement and ensure full compliance to all corporate policies/standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • MLF Program Administrator of the Environmental Monitoring System (EMS), you will provide system application support to ensure that the needs of the “front end” users (Plant FSQA) are met and that all aspects of the Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) are in compliance with Company and Government (CFIA, Health Canada and Public Health Agency of Canada, USDA/FDA) requirements.
  • Provide technical coaching/training/troubleshooting and support for new and existing users for LabVantage LIMS processes, EMS, and ATP Clean Trace.
  • Manage and maintain LabVantage LIMS static data such as EMS site hierarchy, specifications, analysis, stability protocols, data tables and instruments ensuring data integrity is maintained and system performance.
  • Facilitate and manage budget preparation activities for our MLF Laboratory cost centers and provide input on budgetary requirements for LabVantage LIMS system and related program changes.
  • Report on regular EMP metrics on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Update Technical Services Business Unit Laboratory Test Costs on a bi-annual basis and lead the benchmarking with external laboratories.

What you will bring:

  • Post-secondary school education (degree or diploma) in Microbiology, Chemistry or related fields
  • Minimum of 4 years of full-time experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory setting
  • Experience working with LabVantage LIMS software and master data management
  • Strong understanding of Environmental Monitoring Program best practices
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a simple and clear manner with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Ability to work across the organization to produce desired results with cross-functional teams or individually
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to navigate ambiguity
  • Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Strong change management skills, to develop change plans and the ability to manage others through change
  • Demonstrated time management, multi-tasking and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to lead major work-streams relatively independently with proven ability of project management
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to influence others.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people professionally.
  • Strong computer software skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Minitab, Power BI.
  • Proven managerial skills including coaching others.
  • Experience with customer-direct billing and lab budgets is a plus
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with excellent written and verbal communications
  • Ability to travel as per business requirements (~25%) including travel to the United States when required
