FSQA Manager – Product Performance (contract) The Opportunity:
The FSQA Manager – Product Performance will identify and support food safety and quality improvement changes to our products. The primary scope of this role is to evaluate enhancements to shelf life performance impacting finished products and raw materials supporting products quality end state, across multiple manufacturing sites. The successful candidate must be very familiar with and comfortable in a manufacturing environment and have extensive experience using SAP-RD. Critical needs for this position are the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to continuously multi-task. Outcomes of this position have a positive financial business impact.
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Simultaneously manage multiple shelf life food safety and quality projects, impacting several manufacturing sites and providing Supply Chain opportunities
Maintaining up to date project data trackers
Gather, analyze and manipulate sensory results and scientific data to generate reports from SAP-RD
Assess product safety through the interpretation of scientific challenge studies
Perform pathogen modelling for food safety coverage using online databases
Provide science-based conclusions derived from the historical and newly developed shelf life performance information
Utilize SAP-RD driven documentation to support decisions related to shelf life
Perform and/or assist in sample requisition and delivery throughout the MLF network, including completion of required sample analyses documentation
Manage projects from conception to completion
Lead team organoleptic evaluations and collect validation results for tested products
Manage communication of progress in the form of Dashboard reports to inform key stakeholders of progress in shelf life work
Follow up on commitments and requirements to maintain targets and timelines

What you will bring:
University degree or technical/college diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science
Excellent SAP-RD knowledge including ECR creation experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing role or related food safety technical role
Knowledge of Canadian and US Regulatory meat requirements, and of FSMA and SFCR
Intermediate systems skills (including MS Office)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organization and planning skills with attention to detail
Interest and willingness to learn and teach others
French language is an asset
Influential leadership skills and independent work ethic
Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values
Some automobile travel in southern Ontario is required
